Lifely Updates #14

April was definitely a blast despite it being the month of repentance and spiritual reflection. There was a lot of repentance and reflection that transpired alright but not the kind that would make the devotees sing praises for me. Kind of repentant because I ate a lot of food which made me gain a few more pounds and whatever spiritual reflection I did was more likely related to the reasons why I am behaving like I have been starved for so many years. You see, it was just so hard to refuse food when it either came to you for free or that you are with the love of your life. When food is either free or being eaten together with your favorite hooman being, everything becomes overly delicious that you forget that your tummy has a limit or that the word “full” exists in the dictionary. To cut the story short, had they seen me in my debauchery, the devotees would’ve prolly made the necessary sign of the cross and prayed for the salvation of my soul because I am kind of hopeless. I am a lapsed Catholic so most of the religious doctrine has now escaped me and honestly, I have been relying on the belief that He is merciful and benevolent enough to still consider me as His child despite my numerous sins.

Anyhow, let’s go back to what made April a blast. For one, I was able to visit Cebu and be together with my Baymax again, thanks to the long Lenten holiday. Basically, we just stayed in their camp house except during the Black Friday wherein we went partying in La Briza Beach Resort. Baymax’s officemates went with us and I made new acquaintances and several friends during the outing. It was quite tiring but the experience was priceless. Everyone, except for yours truly (yup, I was always the KJ one), got drunk and did harmless crazy things in the pool and on the sand. There was also a lot of Paru-Paro G and Budots dancing and singing because swimming in the pool while drunk is not enough you know. You have to let it all out especially if you have been holed up in the Plant looking after rocks being crushed for like 10 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. Ok, that’s me speaking for the hubby. Heh.

So after all the partying and wastedness, I returned to Gensan and brooded on the fact that I will not be there when Baymax celebrates his birthday in the last week of April. But thanks to the internet and to whoever invented catering with delivery services because I was able to arrange a food delivery for Baymax’s birthday. And I was also thankful that he has a lot of camp housemates to celebrate his birthday with.

I don’t know if this is bordering corny but this collage, made through the Project Life app, right here was one of the preparations that I made for Baymax’s birthday.

As for the other updates about my life, well, work is still okay although going to and from our office is proving to be a challenge right now because the company’s management decided to do away with the free shuttle. And hence, I am now back to being the haggard commuter. Thankfully, the Universe is still merciful because my lady boss offered to give me free ride back and forth daily so I am saved from having commute wrinkles for now. On a sadder note, however, I have been absent from my online classes for many weeks now because I’m not in the mood of being a student. And besides, I got my reading groove back again. Wow, that’s good news for the bookworms, right? Praises to Ilona Andrews! Her Kate Daniels series has been in my TBR pile ages ago but it took me a long time to pick up the first book because you know, the cover was uuhhhm….determined not to be picked up. And it turned out that the saying “Don’t judge the book by its cover” rang true for all Ilona Andrews books because OMG, all her books that I have read proved to be addictive…like I can’t think straight when I am not sinking my teeth into one of her books. As of today, I have already finished her Kate Daniels, On the Edge, Iron Covenant, and Aurelia Ryder series. I am now devouring the second book of her Hidden Legacy series, White Hot.  Hot damn but Ilona Andrews just became one of my favorite authors just this month and I am planning to finish her Hidden Legacy series by the 3rd week of May if my work schedule would permit it.

So that’s it for my April. I’m pretty sure that there are a lot of things that happened but yeah, I am making this post as short as possible because I need the time to read some more. Yeah. I hope you understand.
