Book Review: Angelfall

Books like Angelfall are one the few reasons why readers shouldn’t give up on reading paranormal stories and picking up self-published books.  The journey might be taxing but once you come across stories like Angelfall, all those hitches you’ve passed by will be greatly compensated. It is amazingly unique and greatly depicts Susan Ee’s superb devotion to the genre. Rather than being your typical fluffy angel read wherein you daydream about being saved by a chiselled, glowing, haloed, creature of goodness; Angelfall will deliver you straight to a world of macabre and horror where angels are the warlords of blood…

Book Review: Captivate

Captivate frustrated me so much that I was tempted to give it a zero star rating.  Except for the interesting premise, everything about it was off. Not to mention that I was angry at myself for not really checking it out.  I thought that it’s going to be a mermaid book but it’s not. In actuality, it’s about an underwater kingdom of humans. It is so reminiscent of those “books” that suffered from predictable and romance driven-plot, underdeveloped MCs, and lacklustre world building. *eyeroll* But I think, it would quite serve its purpose when one is looking for something light to read just to kill time.…

Book Review: Daughter of Smoke And Bone

It is scary to be writing a 3-star review for a book so loved. It is even scarier to think that there is something wrong with me for not enjoying a book adored by many.  As a reader, I am so easy to please and I am generous with my 4 and 5 stars.  Giving Daughter of Smoke and Bone a 3.5 star rating felt like I am perhaps losing myself. You see, angel stories have already burned me in the past but it didn’t stop me to continue searching for the one that would erase all the bad memories. …
