Book Review: Shadow Weaver

This is my second Marcy Kate Conolly book and I enjoyed this more than the other one.  The story is what the premise promised. We have Emmeline who is gifted with shadow weaving.  She excels at it. She loves it. She acknowledges it. Only that her parents and the people surrounding her have grown wary about her power as the years went by. Then the day came when her parents couldn’t take it any longer and desired to send her away to get cured. So Emmeline ran and took refuge in the woods wherein she met a lovely family whose…

Book Review: The Hammer of Thor

Just like his other books and the first Gods of Asgards books,  I was smiling as I reached the end of this book. The Hammer of Thor is a spectacular sequel to The Sword of Summer and is further proof of Riordan’s prowess when it comes to mythology.  Although it’s obvious that he recycled some stuff from his previous books, The Hammer of Thor and The Sword of Summer were still enjoyable reads that I breezed through them in a very short amount of time.  I finished this book in a day while doing household chores and the usual fix…

Book Review: The Story Spinner

Objectively speaking, there’s no way that Storyspinner could have earned a four star rating from me.  The grounding still needs work, the world building insufficient, some of the characters are underdeveloped and the plot simplistic. But Becky Wallace’s storytelling hit all the right spots for me so I wasn’t able to stop myself from being generous.  I didn’t regret giving away my four stars. Storyspinner immediately hooked me from beginning to end.  I couldn’t remember a single moment that I got bored or getting annoyed about this or that.  2015 made for a lot of disappointing reads that reading Storyspinner…
