Book Review: A Harvest of Hearts

Unlike the other reviewers who picked this book due to it being inspired by Howl’s Moving Castle, I requested Harvest of Hearts from Netgalley because I fell in love with the cover and the premise was interesting. Stories about a new take on magical system is usually a go for me. What Harvest of Hearts is offering is definitely right up my alley. And now that I am writing this review, I am happy to report that it totally stayed true to its mission. A Harvest of Hearts revolves around the life of our heroine, Foss Butcher, a country bumpkin…

Book Review: The Three Lives of Cate Kay

There’s something about this book that’s both lovely and disorienting. Is it because of the numerous POVs? Is it because it feels more like of a memoir than your typical novel? Or is it because our protagonist still seems an enigmatic person even until the very end? As someone who prefers SFFs and RomCom stories, the Three Lives of Cate Kay felt so new to me that reading the first few chapters felt weird. Book Review: Something Rotten

Something Rotten was a random pick from Netgalley, a sort of challenge for myself to read something that’s way out of my comfort zone. And well, who could resist that crying baby cover which really piqued my curiosity? It’s not something that I get to encounter every day what with the SFF books that I usually prefer to read. I’m glad that I picked Something Rotten because it gave my brain a new stimulation that’s not focused on who’s gonna usurp someone’s kingdom or will the boy/girl of destiny fulfil the prophecy. Something Rotten is not your typical contemporary-couple story…
