Book Review: The School for Good and Evil

This book has just solidified my belief of the saying that “looks can be deceiving.” You know what really makes me hate a book? It’s not the badness nor the prose nor the plotholes. It’s the fact that I went into it with loads of expectation only to be severely disappointed upon arrival at the finish line. And this is what happened to me after reading The School for Good and Evil. Fairy tales are one of my comfort reads. Whenever I’m suffering from a great book hangover, I always crave for something light and entertaining. But I didn’t achieve…

Book Review: Froi of the Exiles

If you have noticed my inactivity for the last few days then there’s just one reason for that: I was busy reading the Lumatere Chronicles and I refused to be bothered by e-mails and comments. I still love you, guys but the pull of Marchetta was too strong that the only right thing to do was to keep reading until my body surrenders.  So I will start this review with a warning. Book Review: The Cuckoo’s Calling

Being JK Rowling’s first crime adult novel, I must say that she’d done an impressive job on this one. The Cuckoo’s Calling has managed to render me awestruck for a moment or two before I accepted two things: 1. Sherlock’s still the best sleuth in town and 2. Cormoran Strike didn’t manage to dislodge Professor Robert Langdon from occupying the number 2 spot in my heart. The Cuckoo’s Calling was an entertaining read but it didn’t have the brilliance of Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons series (esp. Da Vinci’s code) nor Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Well,…
