Lifely Updates #25: Lifestyle Changes and Trying Out New Hobbies LOL!

Hi. Consider this as Lifely Updates No. 25-29 heh.

I’m just posting just to tell you that I am still alive and kicking. I know that my last lifely update was in January 2024 which was 6 months ago. I’ve just been busy despite not having any human kids ha. But I have a lot of hobbies and have furkids that need my constant attention and frowning. So what’s been going on with my life for the past 6 months? Oh well, work is still ever present, we gotta pay the bills, man. I’m still playing my favorite mobile and computer games. I’m still reading. Actually, this is one hobby that, as usual, took up a lot of my time because there are series to complete. I also discovered the Harry Dresden Files and Alex Verues series which I totally enjoyed. I have already finished Alex Verus but I’m still reading book 8 of the Harry Dresden Files (whoa! 11 books more to go to catch up with the series). I am tempted to review the books one by one but scrapped the idea for now because I’m back to reading Advanced Reader’s Copies and I want to prioritize in reviewing these.

As for the other things about my personal life, I’ve finally found the courage to shift to a healthier lifestyle last April 09 because most of my shirts, pants, and office uniforms are getting tighter and tighter every day. Yep. I’ve been indulging in a lot of tasty and sugary snacks months before April and I had this mindset that it’s ok because I’m just going to fast the next day or the next or that I am doing this in moderation anyway. But the thing is, if you are eating unhealthy foods, the meaning of moderation becomes really vague and fasting is too difficult when your body is just asking for more sugar overload. So in April, I just decided that I have had enough with unhealthy eating, and unhealthy habits. So far, I am coping despite the body pains and lots of panting during the workouts. It’s been 3 months already and I am no longer craving for sugar and unnecessary snacking. Also saved money from ordering online takeouts. I have lost around 9 kgs already and I have incorporated in my weekly schedule strength and cardio trainings. I suck at these things but oh well, I gotta suck it up if I want progress. As lazy as I am, I need to do these things because I can’t quite down that nagging voice inside my head that I’d be paying more in the future if I insist on my couch potato lifestyle. So here I am, doing my best. I am not sure if I can sustain my diet and my workouts in the coming months but heck, I will tell myself to just keep on showing up. Look at the photographs. Not the best pics, I took them using a very old phone and of course, my photography skills are almost nil so there you are.

I’m still squeezing my daily reading goals making sure that I am on track with my Goodreads Reading Challenge. I also got back to journalling although I am not really consistent at it because again, I am lazy. But whatever, I have given up scolding myself about my inconsistencies and accepted the fact that I will update my journal when I want to.

For now, what I really want is to keep being motivated to go to work, do things that feed my soul, my mind, and my physical body. I think when we improve as a person, no matter how slow or fast the pace, we will eventually get to that point wherein our souls, our minds, and our physical bodies are so nourished that the daily hassles in life become so mundane.

So I’ll end this for now. I hope that the incoming months will be kinder to us and that we will reach our individual goals.

First run. I did pant so hard but proud of myself because I was able to run straight for 1 km.
It was an overcast day and the road was wet. I did not manage to run for 1km straight. I run 500 meters, walked, then run again… Managed to finish 1km then walked afterwards. Calf and leg pains still made me cringe.
Third run. Managed to run 4 km with just 30 sec break. But the run was really slow… It should be called a jog.
