Lifely Updates #22

Has everyone already posted their December updates? Hehehehe.

So my blog, Facebook, Twitter, and IG feeds are all awash with the Holiday updates that I did contemplate about not posting because everybody is already doing it. Hehehe. Just like everyone else, I went on a Holiday together with the hubby. It was by far the longest vacation that I have because I left for Cebu in the 24th, travelled to Butuan on the 28th, and returned to Gensan on the 2nd of January the following year. Believe me, I am not much of a traveller and would have rather stayed at home, crocheting, reading and gaming (if I had a a good a decent gaming laptop, that is) but thank heavens, the trip proved to be what I need. 2022 was just so fast-paced that I didn’t get to savor so many important moments particularly those me time moments wherein I assess whether I have grown as a person or if my intentions have improved compared to the previous years or whether I have found meaning about my life. Heh. I guess 2023 would be that year wherein I get to sit down and contemplate on things regardless of the pace.

Anyhow, going back to the vacay stuff, we didn’t travel much within the cities that we stayed in. In Cebu, I was mostly holed up in the hubby’s room while he was at work. I took it as an opportunity to hone my skills in micro-crocheting. It’s a good thing that I had a lot of crochet stuff delivered to his camp address because I didn’t have to bring it with me during my flight and they were already in his room upon my arrival. We did a lot of night-time dates though after he’s back from work. Speaking of dates, I just discovered that one can still have fun in carnivals even without the rides.  In one of our night-time dates, we visited the Megadome, some sort of Fairytopia Theme Park, in Toledo City. It has a lot of food, plant, and novelty booths which you can feast your eyes and money on. However, I did not look at the booths much because I was not really keen on buying stuff when I am travelling (unless they are super novelty items);  want to keep my baggage as light as possible you know. I was more invested in playing shoot-that-ball in the carnival because it’s a hell lot of fun. So the hubby and I did just that; well, it was more like of…”he did the cheering, coaching, and mentoring, and I did all the shooting…” So yup, that night was super fun because we got to do things that are way different from our routine.

At long last, it was time to say temporarily goodbye to Cebu and say hello to Butuan, the hubby’s hometown. This is where we stayed very long. If I remember it correctly, it would be my 3rd time being in Butuan though I have not explored the place that much. Though it’s a small city, I like it because it’s slow paced and population is still relatively slow. Aside from the usual Christmas shopping, the hubby and I went malling, roaming the streets (on a motorcycle hah!), and visiting the museum which was awesome despite what every Butuanon’s uhmmm… negative opinion about it. I wish we have a museum here in General Santos City. What we have though is an old library and an old City Hall which have been gradually renovated the previous  years.

Ahh…with this much time of vacation, I can finally see a glimpse as to why those travel addicts love to be in different places frequently. I, however, would still prefer to stay at home, tinker things, avoid people most of the time.  Heh.

So how was your December?
